3M Unitek is bringing in the New Year by making a commitment to encouraging young people to learn about oral health and prevention at a young age. Together with the 3M Foundation, 3M Unitek has provided a grant to Pretend City Children’s Museum located in Irvine, CA to revitalize and redesign their Dental Office Exhibit. The Dental Exhibit allows children to play with dental and orthodontic equipment in order to foster a curiosity and understanding about the importance of visiting the dentist and maintaining good habits between visits.
Aimed at sparking excitement about the orthodontic journey, the exhibit also includes a 3M™ Paint Your Smile kiosk – which allows children to upload a photo of themselves and virtually try on Clarity™ ADVANCED Ceramic Brackets from 3M Unitek and experiment with different colored ligatures that really “pop.” Seeing first-hand what braces would look like helps with treatment acceptance and builds excitement for that first appointment. Orthodontists can access the tool with their own patients at www.paintyoursmile.com.
In addition to supporting youth as they embark on their dental and orthodontic path, 3M Unitek recognizes the need to provide orthodontists and their patients with resources to encourage healthy brushing habits during treatment. Patients and practitioners are encouraged to access an interactive “Brushing With Braces” guide, completed in partnership with Crest® and Oral-B® Pro-Health, online at 3MBraces.com/Brushing.
