(ST. LOUIS, August 3, 2016) – The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) is headed to New York City’s Fashion Week for its first ever pop-up event, “Your Smile is Your Best Fashion Accessory™” on Wednesday, September 7 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Shops at Columbus Circle at the Time Warner Center. The AAO is breaking new ground with this unique, open-to the public event designed to link fashion with the lifelong benefits of a healthy, beautiful smile created in concert with orthodontists.
Now doctors, patients and the public can join the fun from anywhere, thanks to a new mobile app. The app will showcase live snippets of the excitement from the New York City event, plus fashion and grooming tips and tricks on how to create and maintain a healthy, beautiful smile.
Download the app by searching Apple or Android stores for “AAO Fashion Event” or entering the following URL into a mobile browser: https://crowd.cc/s/iN9W.
According to Crowd Compass, a leader of mobile application development, mobile is everywhere: the average smartphone user checks their phone 150 times a day, and spends 127 minutes per day using apps. Mobile is more than a trend, it has quickly become an integral thread in the fabric of everyone’s busy life.
The public is invited to download the free app to receive exclusive fall fashion insights from InStyle Magazine’s Tai Beauchamp and award-winning fashion blogger Sean Phillips. Users will be able to submit questions to these fashion experts, as well as event sponsors/presenters Invisalign®, Shock Doctor, Sephora, Whole Foods and The Art of Shaving during the event through a Q & A button on the app. In addition, the app will facilitate easy, real-time monitoring of the event’s social media posts.
The app includes a link to Find an Orthodontist on mylifemysmile.org. Both virtual and in-person guests can use it to locate AAO members throughout the U.S., Canada and abroad and set a course to achieve their own timeless fashion accessory: a healthy, beautiful smile.

About the American Association of Orthodontists
Founded in 1900, the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) is the world’s oldest and largest dental specialty organization. It represents more than 18,000 orthodontist members throughout the United States, Canada and abroad. The AAO encourages and sponsors key research to enable its members to provide patients with the highest quality of care, and is committed to educating the public about the need for, and benefits of, orthodontic treatment.
Orthodontists are uniquely qualified specialists who diagnose, prevent and treat dental and facial irregularities to correctly align teeth and jaws. Orthodontists receive an additional two to three academic years of specialized education beyond dental school at an accredited orthodontic residency program to become specialists in orthodontic care. Only orthodontists qualify for AAO membership. For more information and to find AAO-member orthodontists near you, visit mylifemysmile.org.
