Alnova Launches Between-Visit Patient App for Orthodontic Practices

New app and clinic portal help practices stay connected with patients and parents in the weeks between orthodontic appointments

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada, November 5, 2026 – Alnova AI has released Alnova, a patient app for iOS and Android with a web portal for orthodontic practices. It is designed for the weeks between appointments, when practices often have little visibility into how treatment is going at home.

In Alnova, patients and parents see upcoming and missed appointments, treatment progress, care instructions and clinic guides, and can send photos and messages to the practice. The clinic portal shows the day's patients and missed appointments, sends automatic missed-appointment emails, and lets the team review patient photos, manage treatment plans and set reward challenges that encourage good habits. Alnova works alongside the practice's existing management software and is available in English, French, Spanish and Arabic.

Published research shows why this period matters. In a study of 2,644 aligner patients, 64% were not fully compliant with wear time (Timm et al., Journal of Clinical Medicine, 2021). A later study found that electronic reminders reduced poor compliance from 24.5% to 9.3% (Timm et al., Scientific Reports, 2022).
