ClearCorrect Now Accepts Intraoral Scans
HOUSTON, TX—May 2, 2013—ClearCorrect, LLC, announced today that they are now accepting intraoral scans. Doctors can now choose to send either traditional PVS impressions or digital intraoral scans to ClearCorrect when submitting a clear aligner case. Unlike some labs, ClearCorrect will not restrict doctors to any particular scanner model or brand.
Chief Technical Officer Paul Dinh explained, "There's more than one quality intraoral scanner on the market. Doctors should have the right to choose which system they want to use. We’ll accept scans from any system that exports STL files.” STL is an open, industry-standard file format used to represent 3D models. A wide range of scanners are capable of exporting to the STL format. Dinh continues, “We've already started accepting open scans from the 3M™ True Definition Scanner, the 3Shape TRIOS®, and other systems including Align Technology’s iTero™.”
ClearCorrect expects all-digital cases to get turned around days faster, and with more accuracy. Doctors should verify that their scanner allows them to export STL files. If not, they can contact the manufacturer of the scanner or the reseller to find out whether it is possible to upgrade to a version that allows this feature.
“Intraoral scans are the way of the future and ClearCorrect is ready today,” said CEO Jarrett Pumphrey. “We pride ourselves on offering doctors a choice in clear aligners, and now that choice extends to intraoral scans.”
