A new AI-powered decision-support module helps orthodontists understand case complexity, compare treatment options and forecast treatment duration in real time.
NEW YORK, October 2026 — SoftSmile, the orthodontic technology company behind the VISION treatment planning platform, is launching Vision Forecast, a new module in the SoftSmile VISION Portal that uses AI to analyze a new case and generate a case summary covering approximate aligner requirements, case complexity, relevant clinical details and commonly used treatment strategies. The tool helps doctors quickly assess potential treatment duration and compare different approaches — for example, with or without extractions.
“The most valuable part of Vision Forecast is what it can tell a doctor in the first minutes of a consultation,” said Khamzat Asabaev, Founder and CEO of SoftSmile. “Doctors do this anyway — they always assess or model the case or imagine the treatment even before sending all data to the aligner supplier. Now, the initial assessment will be visualized, and the doctor will be able to walk the patient through it. This gives patients a clearer picture of what their treatment may involve, helping them understand the commitment before deciding how to proceed. Most importantly, and this is what I love most about Forecast, we will show doctors similar cases and how they were treated.”
While much of today’s AI is focused on generating content, SoftSmile is using AI to unlock insights at the earliest stage of treatment planning. Vision Forecast can identify patterns and connections that may not be apparent when a new case is first reviewed on its own.
